Don’t Quit and Never Give Up

by

Success is reaching meaningful results without giving up.  Where one person quits, a successful person finds alternatives, creates options, overcomes obstacles, gets up again, and succeeds in the face of whatever challenges arise, whether internal or external.

Working hard is a habit, quitting is a habit. Once the habit of quitting takes over it can be like a malignant cancer spreading to all areas of your life. You can quit in your work, you can quit in your relationships, you can quit in your dreams and finally you can quit in your life. How many people are living small lives, achieving only a small fraction of what they could?

The ultimate defeat in life is to quit in the pursuit of a worthwhile goal and have to live with the consequences the rest of your life. Sometimes you may need to scale back the goal or even take a pause to rethink things, but the idea of giving up and quitting should not even be a concept.

How many people have you met who blame their failure in life on everyone else but themselves? They blame their parents, their friends, their spouses, their children, the society. These tales of woe go on and on. One the poorest tales is “I just wasn’t born lucky” or “My parents didn’t love me” or “My boss gave me this heart attack”.

Quite often the friends and people we surround ourselves help to encourage our lack of achievements and tales of woe. When you tell such people your dreams and ideas instead of encouragement or some type of constructive comments or even constructive criticism they may laugh at you or tell you “You can’t do that”. Many scientific studies now confirm that your income is the average of your five closest friends. There is a great story of an entrepreneur who only changed his environment and his social network and had a total transformation in his business from nearly failing to success.

Succeeding and not quitting is also a habit. Once you get in the habit of achieving your goals. You will get to the enjoy the benefits and enjoyment of success for the rest of your life. The benefits will permeate into all areas of your life. It effects your work, personal life, relationships and provides a positive self-image and self confidence that goals automatically become bigger and achievement becomes easier and easier.

1. Were there instances where you gave up later regretted that you did not try harder?

2. Have you given up on pursuing a dream you still care about?

3. How could you learn from the experience and use this as a teacher?

1. Overcome the quitting bias.  Go above and beyond, making an extra effort and choice to move through obstacles every day.

2. Use this program as an example.  Commit to it and realize the full benefit.

3. Friends also want tomorrows like yesterday.  Notice how friends may reinforce your past approach and move beyond it.
