Move Forward Daily
LIfe clearly has big events and leaps forward from time to time. You want to seize those moments and act passionately when you have the opportunity for great changes or new directions that fit your desired life.
Today, we will focus on something a little different. Most long term journeys are composed of many, many small steps and shifts. When you look back you may notice a few major leaps, but they are usually woven into a fabric of many small steps and actions.
If you place a tiny bit of money into an interest bearing account every day, the compounding effect over a lifetime is dramatic. If you do something nice for people in your life every day, similarly, the effect over a lifetime is dramatic.
Small actions have enormous cumulative effects over months, years, and your lifetime. It’s easy to spot the big decisions and take a step back to choose carefully. Can you spot some of the small decisions you make every day that add to or subtract from your life over the long run.
Even if you don’t have a clear sense of overall direction for your life at the moment, there are certainly some areas that you want to shift. It could be career, health, relationships, living environment, passion, friends, hobbies, and so on. When you see something to improve in your life, something that matters to you, take small steps, more than you did before, every day, to improve it.
This doesn’t mean there aren’t big steps and leaps to come, but get the balls moving in the right direction. The basis of most dramatic long term shifts is built with small incremental actions.
This process of incrementally moving in the right direction is contagious in your life. You will improve your life in this program from many synergistic perspectives. You will find it gets progressively easier and more automatic to make little shifts and take new actions.
“The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.”
“What we find is that if you have a goal that is very, very far out, and you approach it in little steps, you start to get there faster. Your mind opens up to the possibilities.”
“The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps – we must step up the stairs.”
“You have to have a big vision and take very small steps to get there. You have to be humble as you execute but visionary and gigantic in terms of your aspiration. In the Internet industry, it’s not about grand innovation, it’s about a lot of little innovations: every day, every week, every month, making something a little bit better.”
