Meditation Log – July 2019
July 1
July 2
July 3
July 4
I stopped logging my meditation sessions after July 4. I did not meditate daily for a little over a month. What happened? Well, as life likes to do there were changes to my routine and I had difficulty keeping up with my meditation practice – disruptions at home and abroad such as it were. A couple days stand out during that time. July 13 started very early for me with a 3 hour car trip to retrieve my daughter from camp. I didn’t “hit the cushion” for meditation until 7:30 in the evening and I was very tired and very over caffeinated. I tried one of the guided focus sessions and kept nodding off. I really discovered that evening that I do not want my time meditating to include napping.
Towards the end of July we took our family vacation, making a long (almost 2 weeks) trip to Hawaii. I successfully meditated about half the days of that trip. One memorable day was July 29, on the Island of Maui. I had been swimming in the ocean and had bobbed around too much in the water and gave myself some motion sickness. I have become very prone to motion sickness over the past 5 years or so. After the water I found myself feeling “bleh” and just wanting to feel better. I thought trying meditation couldn’t hurt but I didn’t want to listen to any instruction. I tried the first 40 minute Gamma Meditation session from the Deeper Sessions page, as I know the Gamma Sessions are not guided. The session went by quickly, I did not fall asleep, and my gut felt settled as well. Win!
